# Modes / Hotkeys

## 3 modes

Up to 3 modes can be used per Keystone 2 function. They change the way Keystone 2 groups keyframes when processing them. These modes are accessible using **hotkeys** as follows:

* *Layer mode* (default) **`click`**
* *Property mode* **`ALT (⌥)`** + **`click`**
* *Global mode* **`SHIFT`** + **`click`**

### Layer mode

By default, with a simple **`click`**, keyframes are grouped by layers.

### Property mode&#x20;

**`ALT (⌥)`** + **`click`**  allows to group keyframes by property. Particularly useful when you want to stagger or align keyframes located on a single layer.

### Global mode

**`SHIFT`** + **`click`** groups keyframes all together. This is the combination to use if you have selected keyframes on multiple layers and want to maintain their relative offset.
